Cathedral Seminary HOUSE OF FORMATION

Cathedral Seminary House Of Formation is a house of priestly discernment.  It is a place where a young man may examine God’s call and allow the seed of his own vocation to grow and develop.

The mission of Cathedral Seminary House Of Formation is ultimately the preparation of candidates for ordained priestly ministry in the Roman Catholic Church through spiritual, intellectual, apostolic and character formation.

It is most important for us to keep in mind the true nature of a Seminary Community - it is neither a monastery nor a hotel.  Rather, it is a home.  As the family is called to be a “domestic church,” so we are called to be a community of reciprocal concern after the mind of Christ, in fidelity to our Church’s rules and guidelines concerning all that should constitute Seminary living. For how a seminarian lives his life today will determine the kind of priest he will become tomorrow.  With this mandate in mind, the Seminary faculty works tirelessly to create an environment where men may hear the call of the Lord to service more clearly and to create a genuine and loving home where the work of priestly discernment and formation is done with both excellence and affection.

Whatever is true,  whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence   and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
